Richard Levangie is a Dartmouth, Nova Scotia–based writer whose work reflects both a deep curiosity about people and a distinctly Canadian sense of place. Before turning to fiction, he built a career as an award-winning journalist, contributing science and feature writing that emphasized clarity, empathy, and the human stories behind complex subjects. Alongside this, in recent years, he has shared aspects of his own lived experience with significant personal and health challenges in conversations and informal settings, speaking candidly about resilience and the realities of rebuilding a creative life under constraint.

His debut novel, Secrets of the Hotel Maisonneuve (2020), blends mystery, history, and heart, inviting younger readers into stories of friendship, discovery, and forgiveness. His second novel, Red Tiger, is complete and currently with his publisher, continuing his focus on layered storytelling and character-driven narrative. Living in Dartmouth with his family, Levangie continues to write with a quiet authenticity, grounded in resilience, community, and a lifelong commitment to storytelling.

Transforming richardlevangie.ca

A new website was designed to transform richardlevangie.ca into an improved flexible platform for Richard and his work. Moving away from the limitations of his previous proprietary host provided him with greater control, scalability, and flexibility while creating a foundation that can grow alongside his writing. The new site places his work front and center while showcasing his articles, providing room for future publications.

Focusing on connecting readers, booksellers, and event organizers with Richard and his work, dedicated book content, excerpts, news and blogging provide opportunities to promote work and keep the site current, while author information, social media integration, and direct contact make it easier for visitors to learn more and connect. The platform also supports promotion of readings, signings, and other author events, with the flexibility to introduce book sales and additional products as Richard's needs evolve.

A mobile-friendly design inspired by Nova Scotia create a distinctive home for Richard's writing and storytelling. Behind the scenes, ownership of his domains and website infrastructure was consolidated under Richard's control, creating an independent and practical platform designed for long-term use.

I had the good fortune to work with Frank Orlando on my new author website, and it was a delightful experience. I love the new website he created, and I appreciate how easy it was to work with him. I’m also thrilled to give my business to someone in my community, instead of some anonymous web team in a big American city. I didn’t make it easy on Frank. Just after we started working together, I was in a car accident that made it difficult to give Frank the material he needed to finish the job. But he took it all in stride and treated me with kindness and good humour. I recommend him highly!
