Teaching girls to stop, think, and plan positive alternatives before acting impulsively
Based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, BRAVE was an exciting new initiative founded by Dr. Jennifer Bernier, PhD and hosted by Bryony House that addressed bullying, delinquency and future criminalization among girls aged 6-11 who displayed social and behavioural concerns.

The Centre provided a comprehensive set of services and supports for the girls, their families, and school-based peers using the world-renowned SNAP® (Stop Now and Plan) program. The Centre for Building Resilience through Anti-Violence Education (BRAVE) was officially launched in May 2014 as a division of Halifax Transition House Association through a funding grant from Public Safety Canada’s Crime Prevention Action Fund for 5 years. BRAVE was the first designated all-girls SNAP® site in the world.
Challenge

A website was required to provide information about the Centre and its services. Including the ability to add email newsletter capabilities as well BRAVE staff will need to be able to manage and maintain the upkeep of the content of the site independently.
Given that the Centre was newly developed, assistance with branding and marketing as a community-based, non-profit organization serving vulnerable children and their families was required. Other collateral, such as presentation materials both physical and projected would be required.
Solution
A flexible identity was created that allowed the organization the freedom to utilize it across many mediums with the addition of document templates, signage, and presentation collateral. Being a nonprofit organization, the solution needed to be turnkey and easy to ensure visual and message consistency.
Following the concept of turnkey, a website was created, and training was included so that all team members were able to both execute and guide volunteers in its upkeep. Visual custom guides were also provided so new team members could be easily brought up to speed on its functionality.
A store front location was launched along with their online home all followed a consistent experience, ensuring brand continuity, instilling confidence and comfort to the families introduced to the BRAVE organization.
